Hallettsville Little League 2024 Opening Ceremony
The Hallettsville Little League will hold its opening day ceremonies beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and will mark the start of the 2024 baseball/softball season. First pitch this year will be thrown by Rylee Trlicek.
“This year marks the 50th year of softball being a part of Little League which is why we are thrilled to have Rylee come back home and throw out the first pitch,” Hallettsville Little League president Robin Threadgill said. “Rylee had great success all the way to collegiate level, and it started right here with Hallettsville Little League. We love that her story can inspire our youth, specifically our girls.”
Threadgill said in addition to the first-pitch ceremonies, the Hallettsville 10U Softball team, who won back-to-back Little League State championships, will be recognized. Coupled with this, the Junior and Senior League Softball teams from 20 years ago (2004, 2005, 2006) who made it to the World Series for three straight years will also be recognized. Following the first-pitch ceremonies, games will begin on all fields at 11:30 a.m. with the last game starting at 5:30 p.m. A full concession stand will be open throughout the day serving hamburgers and Hallettsville red wiener hot dogs with homemade chili, as well as cold soft drinks and many other goodies.
“Because of the consistent support of our community, we (HLL) are able to maintain and improve our fields and facilities for both players and spectators,” Threadgill said. “The success of our Little League truly belongs to the people of Hallettsville. We are grateful to all coaches, parent volunteers, field workers, and business supporters for their part in creating a place where our youth can learn the game of baseball or softball on beautiful fields. It takes a village, and we have the best.”
Saturday’s weather forecast calls for a beautiful day for baseball/softball with partial sun and temperatures in the mid to upper 70’s.
“It’s a perfect setting for some softball and baseball, and a juicy burger,” Threadgill said. “We encourage our community to come out as our youth play ball.”
According to Threadgill, the league had a total registration with over 430 ballplayers signing up to play this season. Threadgill said the league will have 41 teams ranging from T-ball to Junior League baseball and softball teams.
