Indianettes split

The Sacred Heart Indianettes split two games last week.

The Indianettes (16-5-2) defeated Wallis Brazos, 14- 9, here Tuesday, March 19.

The game appeared to be headed to a run-rule contest after the Indianettes had taken a 14-4 lead through four innings.

But the Cougars scored 5 runs in the top of the fourth inning to trim the lead to the final, 14-9.

SH scored five runs in the first inning on a tworun single by Ella Demel. Demel scored on a wild pitch, Haley Noska got a run home with an infield out and Karley Kostelnik came across on a wild pitch after hitting a single.

Four more runs crossed the plate in the second inning. Aracely Guzman drove in two runs when she reached on an error, Kostelnik was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded and another scored on a wild pitch.

In the third inning, the Indianettes had another five-run inning. Demel hit her third home run of the season, Avery Beach had a two-run single, Rylan Dworsky singled and scored on a wild pitch and Guzman drove in a run with a single.

The Cougars dropped to 10-12-1 with the loss.

The Indianettes were held to two hits in the road loss to The Woodlands Christian Friday.

Woodland pitcher Katie Crosby, who is reportedly going to play at Duke University, struck out 18.

The lone SH run came in the fifth inning when Ava Lackey doubled and scored on a single by Phoenix Richter. Up until the fifth, Crosby retired the first 12 batters she faced.
