St. Paul baseball: Comeback Cardinals
St. Paul got no hits but was able to score two seventh-inning runs to rally to beat Conroe Covenant Thursday in Bryan in the regional round to advance to the state tournament for the third straight season.
To start the top of the seventh, Blaine Humes reached second on the error and Nate Boedeker was walked.
Joe Peters then hit a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners one base.
Humes scored on a passed ball to get the Cardinals to tie the game before Boedeker went home on the wild pitch for the eventual game-winning run.
Conroe Covenant scored its one run in the fourth inning.
Zeke Rodriguez yielded one run on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts in seven innings.
Boedeker had five putouts on defense.
