Indianettes: Queens of TAPPS Softball

ARLINGTON – In 2021, Haley Noska led the Indianettes to a TAPPS Division IV state championship.

An injury prevented her from playing in the state tournament in 2022 and last year, the Indianettes were upset by St. Paul in the semifinals.

Noska threw a twohitter and struck out 10 and walked one in a 5-0 victory over Abilene Christian in the finals Friday morning.

From the second inning through the sixth, Noska retired 13 batters in a row before giving up a single to Abby Rogers in the sixth

The ’Nettes scored two runs in the first inning after a lead off double by Avery Beach. She was chased home on another double by Ella Demel who scored on Ava Lackey’s single.

SH made the score 3-0 with a run in the second inning.

Phoenix Richter walked at the onset. Following a strikeout, Beach singled before Richter scored on an infield out by Rylan Dworsky.

Lackey began a tworun third inning with a base hit and went to second on an error. Karley Kostelnik was safe on a fielder’s choice and a base hit by Aracely Guzman scored Lackey. A sacrifice fly by Richter got Kostelnik to the dish for the final runs of the game.

The top four hitters in the Indianettes’ batting order went eight-for-15.

Beach was three-forfour, Lackey had two hits in three plate appearances and Dworsky two hits in four trips.

SH 16, ST. PAUL 6 (6 INNINGS)

The Indianettes made sure history would not repeat itself in the 16-6 semifinal victory over St. Paul Friday.

SH got two home runs from Haley Noska and Ava Lackey and Aracely Guzman touched them all in the rout.

SP took a 4-1 lead before the Indianettes aluminum went to work in the second inning with four runs to tie the score at 4-all.

Lackey led off with a solo homer, and after a Karley Kostelnik single, Guzman hit a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence. With two outs, Kenzie Chance drew a base on balls and came across on a triple by Avery Beach.

Four runs scored in the fourth after Lackey hit a three-run homer for a 13-4 lead.

The Indianettes had 14 hits in the contest.
