    JOURDANTON – April Leopold and Olivia Etzler advanced to state for the second year in a row with a second place finish at the Region IV-3A Tournament last week.

    The LB were the #2 seed coming into the tournament and were defeated by the top seed, Jourdanton in the finals 6-7, 7-5, 7-5.

    In a playback, Etzler and Leopold defeated Goliad 7-6, 7-5 to win the silver medal.

    Leopold and Etzler defeated Corpus Christi London #2 (6-0, 6-0), Lyford (6-1, 6-0) and beat Hondo 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 after being down 4-1 in the third set.

    Braylon Swoboda will be an alternate to state after finishing third.

    Swoboda defeated Dilley (6-2, 6-1), Aransas Pass (6-2, 6-1) prior to losing to then #1 seed from Corpus Christi London, 6-2, 6-1). In the third place match, she beat Columbus (6-1, 6-2).
