Daniel Louis Jalufka Sr.
Daniel Louis Jalufka Sr. “Pops” in great sadness his family announces his passing on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Daniel was born Dec. 11, 1941 at home in Lavaca County to Louis Steve and Mathilda Kalisek Jalufka.
He grew up with his older sisters and attended school at Vysehrad ISD.
Daniel and his four children joined families with Theresa Rainosek and her three sons in May of 1984. Later that year they welcomed their son, Randy.
As an adult Daniel devoted his life to instilling in his family the value of a strong work ethic. He worked in the oil field for nearly 60 years and retired at the age of 74 to tend to his farm.
Lottery ticket in hand every Sunday morning he was always ready to hear the winning numbers hoping to be the next big winner. Daniel enjoyed his weekly Sunday morning coffee visits with his kids and could always be counted on to help make sausage with his family after deer season. Daniel enjoyed playing dominos and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Survivors include his children: Daniel Jalufka (Laura Castro), Tony Jalufka, Lisa Rosales (Bryant), Michael Rainosek, William Rainosek (Sharee), Andrew Rainosek (Donna) and Randy Jalufka, along with numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa Jalufka; son, Wayne Jalufka; sisters, Jeanette Rother and Marie McElroy; grandsons, Kyle Jalufka and Quintin Moore.
Visitation began at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., Monday, June 3 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Burial followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Jalufka, Chris Rainosek, Shawn Rainosek, Chase Rainosek, Edgar Resendiz, Brent Rainosek, Mason Jalufka and Trenton Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of donor's choice
