Minor League Red 2-0 after wins over Luling, Shiner

The Hallettsville Minor League Red outscored its two opponents 42-5 in the first two games of the District 31 East Zone Tournament here.

The latest victory was a 20-5 verdict over Shiner Sunday evening.

Hallettsville had nine hits and took advantage of four walks, numerous errors and three hit batters.

The All Stars opened with a five-run first inning with Cole Kocian getting an RBI on a bases-loaded walk and Nash Bucek drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.

Nine runs crossed the plate in a second inning uprising.

Peyton Blahuta, Holt Thigpen had RBI hits in the inning, Colt Wagner hit a sacrifice fly for another run and Bucek tripled.

Thigpen had three hits in three plate appearances as did Brax Threadgill. Threadgill scored three runs and Thigpen scored twice with a run batted in. Blahuta was two-for-two and Cole Kocian doubled.

Wagner worked the first two innings and gave up no runs, struck out six, hit two batters and walked one.
