Shiner softball: Henneke closes out UHV softball career

Shiner grad Cameron (Cowan) Henneke closed out her University of Houston-Victoria softball season by appearing in over 20 games in the 2024 season.
Her first action came in the season opener on Feb. 9 in the LSU-Alexandria Tournament against William Carey (Mississippi) in a 2-1 UHV win. Henneke started the game at pitcher, pitched seven innings and took the win with one run on eight hits, one earned run, 1.00 earned-run average (ERA), 1.14 WHIP (Walks plus Hits Innings Pitched) and four strikeouts. She had two assists and one putout in the field, three stolen bases allowed, one runner caught stealing and .250 RCS (Runner Caught Stealing).
In UHV’s second game that day, they edged Cottey 8-7 (Missouri) with Henneke going 1-for-1, one total base and one plate appearance. She got the win inside the circle, going 2 1/3 innings, four hits, one run, one earned runs, 3.00 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and one strikeout. She made two assists in two chances in the field, 1.00 fielding and allowed one stolen base.
On Feb. 14, she started in the first game of a doubleheader at Schreiner University, earning the win with five innings, two hits, one run, one earned run, 1.40 ERA, .60 WHIP, one walk and five strikeouts.  
Henneke started and took the win Feb. 18 in the second game of a doubleheader 9-1 win against St. Thomas, pitching five innings, two hits, one run, one earned run, 1.40 ERA, .60 WHIP, one walk and one strikeout. In the field, she had one assist on one total chance for a 1.00 fielding.
She picked up another win in the second game of a home doubleheader against Southwestern on Feb. 23 as UHV won 2-1.  Henneke pitched seven innings, three hits, one run, one earned run, 1.00 ERA, .57 WHIP, one walk and four strikeouts. In the field, she had two assists and one putout on three chances for 1.00 fielding and allowed one stolen base.
Henneke got her first loss of the season in a 2-1 setback to Central Methodist (Missouri) on March 2 in the Gulf Shores Invitational. She worked six innings, five hits, two runs, one earned run, 1.17 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, one walk and two strikeouts. She caught one runner stealing for a 1.00 RCS.
On March 3, she rebounded as UHV won 11-1 against Lindsey Wilson, getting the start and the win with seven innings, five hits, one run, one earned run, 1.00 ERA, .86 WHIP, one walk and seven strikeouts. In the field, she had three chances, two putouts, one assist and 1.00 fielding, and allowed one stolen base.
Henneke pitched two innings in the 4-2 loss to Reinhardt (Georgia) later on March 3. She had a .50 WHIP, one walk, two strikeouts and allowed one stolen base.
She started in the first game of a road doubleheader against Xavier (Louisiana) on  March 9 with UHV taking a 10-0 win. She pitched five innings, two hits, .40 WHIP and six strikeouts. On defense, she had one assist on one chance with 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
Henneke started and earned the win March 10 in the first game of a doubleheader away against Louisiana Christian in a 3-0 UHV win. She pitched seven innings with seven hits and three strikeouts and caught one runner stealing for a 1.00 RCS.
In a 2-1 win over Doane (Nebraska) in the first game of a home doubleheader on March 14, she started and earned the win with seven innings, four hits, one run, one earned run, 1.00 ERA, .86 WHIP, two walks and four strikeouts. In the field, she had one assist on one chance, 1.00 fielding, allowed one stolen base and caught one runner stealing for a .500 RCS.
Henneke started and got the win March 19 in the first game of a road doubleheader against Texas A&M-San Antonio in a 7-1 UHV win. She pitched seven innings, five hits, one run, one earned run, 1.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, three walks, three strikeouts, two total chances, two assists, 1.00 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
In a 1-0 loss to Texas A&M-Texarkana in the first game of a doubleheader at home March 22, Henneke started and took the loss with seven innings, 13 hits, one run, one earned run, 1.00 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, three strikeouts, one assist on one chance, 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed. At the plate, she hit 1-for-3, one total base, one groundout, one flyout, 1.00 groundout/flyout and three plate appearances.
On March 23, Henneke started and took the win in a 9-1 decision over LSU-Alexandria in the opener of a doubleheader at home. She pitched five innings with four hits, one run, one walk, three strikeouts and 1.00 WHIP. At the plate, she was 0-for-1 with one hit by pitch, one sacrifice hit, two groundouts and three plate appearances.
In the second game, UHV came up short 9-6 as Henneke pitched  2/3 innings, three hits, one run, one earned run, 10.5 ERA and 4.50 WHIP. She had one plate appearance, going 0-for-1 with one strikeout.
Her next outing was a 4-0 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at OLLU March 28. She went 0-for-2 at the plate, one strikeout and one flyout on two plate appearances.  Henneke pitched six innings, taking the loss with three hits, four runs, four earned runs, 4.62 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, three walks, five strikeouts and two home runs. In the field, she had two assists on two chances, 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
In UHV’s 8-0 win over Texas A&M-San Antonio in the  first game of a doubleheader at home April 2, she was 0-for-2 at the plate, one walk, two flyouts and three plate appearances. Henneke started in the circle and got the win with six innings, six hits, 1.00 WHIP and three strikeouts. In the field, she had four chances, three assists, one putout, 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
On April 5, in the first game of a doubleheader at Jarvis Christian in which UVH won 13-2, Henneke was 1-for-1 at the plate, one run, two RBI, two walks, one sacrifice fly, one total base, one flyout and four plate appearances. She earned another win at pitcher, going five innings, one hit, one run, one earned run, 1.40 ERA, .60 WHIP, two walks and five strikeouts. In the field, she had two chances, one putout, one assist, 1.00 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
In the second game, she was 0-for-1 at the plate with one flyout on one plate appearance in a the 5-0 UHV win.
Henneke had a good day at the plate in a 10-7 win over Texas College April 6 in the first game of a road doubleheader. She was 2-for-4, double, three total bases, one flyout and one strikeout in four plate appearances. In the circle, she started and got the win with 7 innings pitched, nine hits, seven runs, five earned runs, 5.00 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, two walks, seven strikeouts and one home run. In the field, she had one assist on one chance for 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed.
In the first game of a doubleheader at Southwestern on April 20, Henneke started the game and pitched three innings with 10 hits, five runs, five earned runs, 11.67 ERA, 3.67 WHIP, one walk and two strikeouts while going 2-for-2 at the plate with one run, two toral bases and two plate appearances as UHV took a 14-8 win.
In a 2-1 loss to OLLU April 23 in the first game of a doubleheader at home, she started and took the loss with nine innings pitched, seven hits, two runs, one earned run, 0.78 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, two walks, six strikeouts, one putout on one chance, 1.000 fielding and one stolen base allowed. At the plate, she was 2-for-3, two total bases, one flyout and three plate appearances.
On May 4, UHV battled LSU-Alexandria, falling 3-0 in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament. Henneke started at pitcher, taking the loss with six innings, three hits, three runs, three earned runs, 3.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, four walks, two strikeouts, one home run, one total chance, one assist and 1.000 fielding. At the plate, she was 0-for-3, three groundouts and three plate appearances.
The next day, UHV rebounded to edge Louisiana Christian 3-2 in the RRAC Loser’s Bracket. Henneke started in the circle and earned the win with seven innings, seven hits, two runs, two earned runs, 2.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, three walks and two strikeouts. In the field, she had two chances, had two assists and 1.000 fielding. At the plate, she was 2-for-3, two total bases, one groundout and three plate appearances.
May 13 against Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee), a 4-0 win for UHV in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) playoffs, she got another start and win at pitcher, working seven innings, four hits, 0.71 WHIP, one walk, seven strikeouts, two total defensive chances, two assists and 1.000 fielding. 
At the plate, she was 0-for-3, one strikeout, one groundout and three plate appearances.
On May 14, UHV took a 5-0 loss to Oklahoma City in the Fayette, Mo. NAIA National Championship opening round and Henneke started and took the loss with seven innings, nine hits, five runs, three earned runs, 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, two strikeouts and two stolen bases allowed,. At the plate, she was 0-for-2 with a walk, one groundout, one flyout, 1.000 groundout/flyout and three plate appearances.
Later on May 14, UHV fell to Ottawa 3-2 in Oklahoma City with Henneke starting in the circle and taking the loss with seven innings pitched, nine hits, three runs, two earned runs, 2.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, five strikeouts, one putout on one chance for 1.000 fielding. On the bats, she was 0-for-3, one groundout, two flyouts, .50 groundout/flyout and three plate appearances.
For the whole 2024, season at pitcher,  Henneke pitched in 26 games and started 23 games, compiling a record of 17-6, 150 innings pitched, a 1.73 ERA, 94 strikeouts, 1.10 WHIP. 20 complete games, 135 hits, 45 runs, 37 earned runs, 30 walks, 4.39 strikeouts per seven innings and four home runs. In the field, in 27 games, she had 33 chances, eight putouts, 25 assists, 1.000 fielding, 18 stolen bases allowed, four runners caught stealing and .182 runner caught stealing. At the plate in 27 games,  Henneke was 11-for-35 with two runs, two RBI, one double, four walks, four strikeouts, one hit by pitch, one sacrifice flyout, one sacrifice hit, 12 total bases, one extra-base hit, 10 groundouts, 11 flyouts, .91 groundout/flyout, 42 plate appearances, .314 batting, .390 on-base and .343 slugging.

Henneke played three total seasons for UHV. At the plate, she had 77 games, was 33-for-125, 14 runs, seven doubles, one triple, nine RBI, 10 walks, 23 strikeouts, two stolen bases, two hit by pitch, one sacrifice fly, three sacrifice hit, 42 total bases, eight extra-base hits, one hit-into-doubleplay, 30 groundouts, 37 flyouts, 0.81 groundout/flyout, 141 plate appearances, .264 batting, .326 onbase and .336 slugging.
At pitcher, she made 63 appearances, 56 starts, 40-15 record, two saves, 47 complete games, 363 innings pitched, 330 hits, 129 runs, 108 earned runs, 79 walks, 252 strikeouts, 4.86 strikeouts per seven innings, 15 home runs, 2.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. 
In the field for 77 games, she had 84 total chances, 26 putouts, 57 assists, one error, .988 fielding, 46 stolen bases allowed, 13 runners caught stealing and a .220 RCS.
