Minor League Boys defeat Needville, 11-7

INGLESIDE – The Hallettsville 10U AllStars took an 11-7 victory over Needville in the opening round of the Section IV Tournament Monday evening.

Hallettsville had only four hits, but took advantage of 11 walks and a Needville error.

Colt Wagner started on the hill and went two and a two third innings. He allowed one hit, walked seven, gave up and struck out five. Two of the three runs he gave up were unearned.

Holt Thigpen and Brax Threadgill threw in relief to preserve the victory.

The big inning was the third when the locals scored six runs to establish a 9-2 lead. Hallettsville scored the six runs on three hits with the big blow a two-run single by Nash Bucek.

Threadgill, Wagner and Thigpen had hits for Hallettsville. Cole Kocian had an RBI after a bases loaded walk. Cavan Mertz and Lane Brandes also collected RBI.

H’ville 9, Seguin 2

The 10U All-Stars defeated Seguin, 9-2 here Saturday, June 22.

A five-run second inning put Hallettsville over the hump and was sparked by RBI singles by Carter Barnes, Cavan Mertz, Lane Brandes and Brax Threadgill.

The locals had 11 hits with Carter Barnes getting two of them and collecting two runs batted in.

Also hitting safely were Chans Janak, Nash Bucek, Colt Wagner, Holt Thigpen, Peyton Blahuta, and Jackson Pustejovsky.
