Dorothy Ann (Holik) Jansky

Dorothy Ann (Holik) Jansky, 81, of Hallettsville passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1942, in Hallettsville to Frank J. and Annie Barcak Holik.
Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1961 where she met her husband, Charles Jansky whom she married  June 23, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, KJZT, Christian Mothers and KJT.
Dorothy recently retired from her job as Sacred Heart Parish Secretary after 53 years.  She was hired by Monsignor Stanley Petru on July 1, 1971 because of her ability to speak the Czech language and could communicate with the parishioners better.  During her time working at the rectory, she had the opportunity to work for over 30 priests not only record keeping but cooking and cleaning. In addition, she worked for the KC Hall cleaning crew for 30 years. She enjoyed working in the rectory and also church picnics and Fiddler’s Frolic and felt very fortunate to attend school and also work in such a great parish as Sacred Heart. She truly enjoyed all her years she spent there.
Over her lifetime, Dorothy enjoyed attending all the sporting events, graduations and other school activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so proud of each and every one of them.  She also enjoyed gardening which is evident by the large number of plants she continued to care for until the end.  She most especially enjoyed her gambling trips to Louisiana and “always” came home a winner.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Glenn and wife, Evelyn, Ronnie, and Dennis and wife, Sheila; eight grandchildren, Derek Jansky, Justin Jansky, Loren Kostelnik and husband, Kevin, Jason Jansky and wife, Sarah, Kelsey Jansky, Stephen Jansky and wife, Casey, Kendall Jansky and wife, Brynna and Braden Jansky; 11 great-grandchildren, Cole, Macie, Carson, Mabry, Jarrett, Johanna, Braighlynn and new baby, Layne Jansky and Julie, Dylon and Damon Kostelnik; one brother, Elroy Holik and wife, Barbara, and one sister, Carol Sevcik and husband, Forrest; brother-in-law, Alphonse Jansky and wife, Cheryl; sisters-in-law, Mary Holik, Henrietta Jansky and Patsy Fabian; godsons, Dwayne Holik and Brandon Sevcik.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jansky; her parents, Frank and Annie Holik, and brother, Eugene Holik.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 30  at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.
Funeral services were held at  10 a.m., Monday, July 1  at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
