Dorothy Mildred Mladenka Pustka Gast

On July 7, 2024, Dorothy Mildred Mladenka Pustka Gast of Yoakum, passed from this world after a short illness at the age of 99. 
She died at home under the loving care of her granddaughter, Jackie Rodriguez and her daughter, Susan Williams, as well as all the other members of the Williams family.
Dorothy was known by many names; she was Dot to many in the community, Aunt Dot to devoted nieces and nephews, Mom to her 10 children, Frank (and his late wife Reni), Richard (Marilyn), Daniel (Jeanette), Edward (Sandra), Robert (Magdalene), Susan (James), James (Belinda), Betty (Dwight), Margie (Geoff), and Granny to her 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.  All knew her as a great cook, a woman with deep and abiding faith, a person kind to all, and a woman who loved nothing better than playing dominoes at large family gatherings.
Dorothy spent many happy hours watching her favorite teams, the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys.  Until the end of her life, she never missed an opportunity to watch her family members play softball, golf or any activity in which they were involved. Dorothy epitomized living a fun-filled life devoted to God and her family.
Dorothy was born on Dec. 15, 1924, to Jerome and Linnie Mladenka on a farm at Koerth.  
She was preceded in death by her six siblings; two husbands, Frank Pustka and Joe Gast; a son, Martin Pustka, as well as other family members.  She loved all her heavenly family members as well as her living family members and prayed often for their souls. 
The family would like to thank members of the Williams and Rodriguez families as well as Hospice of South Texas for the kind and loving care she was given at the end of her life.
Visitation began at noon and Rosary was recited at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 12 St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hallettsville
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m., Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Rother officiated. 
Burial followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were Richard Pustka Jr., David Pustka, Rodney Pustka, Scott Pustka, Jason Williams, Brian Williams, Riley Rodriguez, Martin Pustka Jr. and Cody Mertz.  
Memorials (in lieu of flowers) may be made to Hospice of South Texas, the St. Mary’s Cemetery fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
