Jan Lahodny to be recognized at naming ceremony August 8

On August 8, Victoria ISD and its board of trustees will hold a ceremony to recognize legendary educator and coach Jan Lahodny at the District Event Center (the former Victoria High School Gym), by naming the court in her honor.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Stingarettes, and Coach Lahodny supporters are encouraged to wear team colors: red and white to show their support.
Jan Lahodny’s legacy is nothing short of remarkable, with over 700 wins as a Varsity coach, including 7 STATE Runners–up and 3 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS at Victoria High School. Her achievements have earned her numerous inductions into Halls of Fame, celebrating her contributions to the world of athletics and her profound impact on the lives of many.
Sherryl (“Augy”) Hauglum ’80 shares, “Coach Lahodny’s legacy transcends the boundaries of basketball, deeply influencing the lives she has touched and the futures she has shaped.
Audra House Pawelek ’89 adds, “Coach Lahodny’s passion and dedication to the game inspired us all. This court will be a lasting tribute to her legacy and impact she had on our community.”
