Raymond G. Kasper

Raymond G. Kasper, 85, of Shiner, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024. 
Ray was born February 22, 1939, in Shiner, to the late John E. and Agnes (Migl) Kasper and was baptized at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church on February 26, 1939.
A 1957 graduate of St. Ludmila’s Academy and Baldwin Business College, he spent several years working in Houston before receiving his draft notice. He was a Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Bayfield APA 33 from August 1961 to August 1965. 
He returned to Shiner and made his career with the Texas Department of Transportation and retired after 32 years of service at the Yoakum District office. Ray was also a member of American Legion Post 201 and VFW Post 6209 and a member of the Shiner Knight of Columbus and Shiner Catholic Church. As a lifelong resident of Shiner, Ray considered Shiner more than just home, he viewed it as a family community and a great place to live.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Kasper and wife Patti of New Braunfels, and Richard Kasper and wife Karen of College Station; one daughter, Vicki Reeves and husband Boe of Weimar. Ray was very proud of his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John Kasper III and Paul E. Kasper.
The family wishes to extend an invitation to honor Ray by attending the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, August 11 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Parish Activity Center. 
Interment will be held at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray’s honor can be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church or Shiner Catholic Schools.
