Indians will start work out from 7 to 10 starting Monday, Aug. 5

The Sacred Heart Indians will begin workouts in preparation for the 2024 football season Monday, Aug. 5.

Coach Alex Seydler, in his second year as Indian taskmaster, said he expects around 37 players for the first day.

The Indians will work out from 7-10 a.m. until school starts Aug. 8.

Key losses to graduation for the Indians are Nic Angerstein and Brady Haas.

Quarterback Andrew Steffek returns, but who will be join him in the backfield will be determined.

Like the team, Steffek had a banner year in 2023 and threw for 912 yards and 14 touchdowns in a ground oriented offense.

Receiver Hudson Kutac returns along with linebacker Josh Terry and lineman Lance Barton.

The Indians begin the season with a rough schedule, opening with Schulenburg and Flatonia on the road.

Sacred Heart is predicted to wins its second district championship in a row.

The Indians scrimmage Pettus on the road Aug. 10 and host Louise Aug. 17 in the second scrimmage.
