Tribe goes on the road for 1st scrimmage

Sacred Heart visits Pettus in its first scrimmage Thursday starting at 6 p.m.

Pettus, a 2A, Division II school, is unfortunately in a district with Shiner and Falls City. The other schools are Yorktown, Louise and Charlotte.

The War Eagles made the playoffs last season.

Pettus returns quarterback Raymone Reyna who leads a team that has all the skill players from ’23 returning.

Halfback Alex Hartsfield and lineman Logan Pena (6-1, 290) are returning starters. Felix Flores and Wilson Barley return in the backfield.

“We had a great first week,” Indian head coach Alex Seydler said. “We have some spots to fill and our two scrimmages will help determine the starters.”

Irreplaceable are halfback Brady Haas and Nic Angerstein. Angerstein, who holds the school record for the longest field goal, signed to play college football at Stephen F. Austin.
