Edgar Joseph Winkenwerder

Edgar Joseph Winkenwerder, 76, of Shiner passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024. 
He was born Feb. 19, 1948 in Shiner to Edgar and Emilie (Valis) Winkenwerder.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. His military service took him all over the world but he returned to his home place in Shiner for retirement.  He was a loving husband to Terry Winkenwerder for 49 years until her passing in 2020. He enjoyed family time with his children and grandchildren and loved spending time outdoors.
Survivors are his mother, Emilie Winkenwerder of Shiner; daughter, Lisa Winkenwerder-Arguilez and husband, Oswald of San Diego, Calif., and son, Jim Winkenwerder and wife, Rachel of Shiner; wife, Helen MacGreggor of Luling; sisters, Doris Koons and Rosie Winkenwerder; brothers, Paul, John and Bobby Winkenwerder; grandchildren: Odie Miller, Imani Miller, Laney Miller, Alena Winkenwerder, and Neal Winkenwerder; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Winkenwerder; infant brother, Roland and sister, Carol Long.
Visitation began will begin at 9 a.m. and funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 5  at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum.  Deacon Michael Morkovsky will officiate. 
Burial will follow at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be  Oz Arguilez, Imani Miller, Laney Miller, Bill Patek, Mitch Cerny, JT Winkenwerder.
Memorials may be made to Crown Hospice or Shiner Academic and Athletic Foundation.
