St. Paul football: Cards fall to Katy St. John XXIII 42-14 in final non-district game

    Sam Perez ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns as St. Paul concluded non-district play with a 42-14 loss at Katy St. John XXIII on Friday.
    The Lions got it done through the air, going 15-of-23 for 268 yards and five touchdowns.
    Brody Biehunko and Jackson Seibert each had four assists and two tackles; Biehunko had a tackle for loss and Jack Ehrig had one interception.
    In the first quarter, SJXXIII scored on a 13-yard pass and in the second period, had touchdown passes of 60 and 42 yards  and a 10-yard touchdown run for a 28-0 halftime lead.
    Perez scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter to get St. Paul on the board. The Lions answered with  an 18-yard pass later in the quarter.
    Perez found the end zone on a 2-yard run in the fourth frame and St. John XXIII scored on a 7-yard pass.
    St. Paul is open this week and starts district on Oct. 11 at home to Conroe Covenant Christian.
