SP hands Indianettes first district loss
At the start of the volleyball season, Sacred Heart head coach Wanda Orsak felt St. Paul would be the team to beat because of its experience.
The Lady Cardinals swept the Indianette. 17,15,15 in the SP Gym Tuesday, Oct. 1.
“We did not show up for that match,” Indianette head coach Wanda Orsak said. “We did not go there to play and it showed in everything we did. We took a lazy approach to the game and got beat.”
There were only five ties in the match and SH served just one ace.
The loss snapped the Indianettes’ four-match winning streak.
The rematch will be Oct. 17 in Hallettsville.
First set
St. Paul led 15-10 after the first rotation before the Lady Cardinals went on a 5-0 run to pull away.
Annika Brooks and Mallory Mueller had three kills each in the set and Skyler Mozisek and Riley Mozisek three apiece for SP.
Second set
There were three tiesthe last one at 13, prior to the Lady Cardinals outscoring the Indianettes 9-1.
The Lady Cardinals won despite five kills by Brooks. Riley Mozisek had five for SP.
Third set
The Lady Cardinals leapt out to a 7-1 lead and led 12-9 after the first rotation.
SH tied the score at 15-all,before having a 5-0 surge.
