LB lose to first place Columbus, second place Industrial

Columbus spoiled Senior Night for the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas and it took a great effort by the Lady Cardinals to do so.

The Lady Brahmas won the first set, 25-21, but Columbus took the next three, 25-18, 25-18,25-19 here Tuesday, Oct. 22.

No. 6 ranked Columbus (33-8, 12-0) won despite 11 service errors.

First set

The LB led 13-10 after the first rotation with the aid of kills by Catherine Felcman and Jans Henke and an ace by Addison Matula.

Columbus had just two leads in the first set.

Hallettsville finished the set with a 4-0 run to win, 25-21.

Kasey Harper had 4 kills and Felcman 3.

Second set:

Columbus led 14-13 prior to out-scoring Hallettsville 11-6 the rest of the way for as 25-18 win.

Kyndal Kuhn, Taylor Morrow and Logan Glueke produced 3 kills each.

Third set:

Hallettsville had a 14- 13 advantage, but the LC reeled off 8 points in a row en route to a 25-18 victory.

Glueke and Morrow led the LC with 3 kills each.

Fourth set:

Hallettsville once again led in the fourth set, this time by 12-10, but Columbus kept its composure had an 11-3 surge to win. 25-19.

Third set:

Rice refused go away in the 25-22 third set Hallettsville victory.

The LB led 21-14 before the Lady Raiders went on a 7-2 run to close the gap to 23-21. But kills by Felcman and Harper settled the issue.

Hallettsville pulled out a 3-2 victory over Palacios in Palacios Friday.

Kasey Harper had a double-double with 21 digs and 21 kills and Alaina Halata had 50 assists.
