Born in Shiner, Texas on February 25, 1956, David was a true “Country Boy”. He graduated from Shiner High School in 1974 and was a proud Comanche throughout his life. He excelled in sports while in Shiner and was the star quarterback in 1971, 1972, and 1973. He still holds the school record for throwing the longest touchdown pass in school history of 97 yards in 1971. He also was an amazing baseball pitcher.
David graduated in 1974 and moved to Texas City where he worked for Galveston County until 1976 when he moved to Seguin and began working at Motorola. He worked in Receiving and Shipping where he was respected for his dedication, friendliness, and skills. He retired from Continental who bought Motorola in 2014.
David bought his beloved farm in Kingsbury in 1989 and later built his log cabin. He was happiest when at his country home and surrounded by wild turkeys, wild hogs, deer, and other wildlife. He loved to fish, hunt, watch all sports, and enjoyed his solitude.
David’s life was cut way too short, and he will be profoundly missed. His memory and sweet smile will be cherished by all whose lives were touched by his teasing personality, sparkling eyes, gentleness, big heart, kindness, charm, and love. Most knew him by “Brother Dave” or “Big D.” He would literally give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it.
