Veterans Day ceremonies scheduled for Friday, Monday

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11 and area schools as well as the two nursing and rehab centers in Hallettsville hosting events to honor the veterans.

Vysehrad School

Vysehrad School will hold its annual Veterans Day program on Friday morning, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the veterans and spouses will be treated to a luncheon meal.

Nursing and Rehab Centers

Hallettsville Nursing and Rehab Center and Stevens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will host a Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 8 beginning at 2 p.m.

The ceremony will be held at the flag pole in front of HNRC, located at 825 W. Fairwinds and following the ceremony refreshments will available. Local musician, Ronnie Hermes, will provide the entertainment with patriotic songs.

The nursing home/rehab center invites the public to join to honor their veteran patients, residents, community members and veteran organizations and auxiliaries.

SHCS

Sacred Heart Catholic School will host its annual Veterans Day program Monday, Nov. 11, at 8:05 a.m. in the gymnasium. Following the ceremony, refreshments, will be served. Veterans and the community are invited to attend.

HHS

Hallettsville ISD will host a Veterans Day program on Monday, Nov. 11 with all veterans invited to take part in its annual Veteran’s Day Parade.

The parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. with participating veterans gathering at the Hallettsville Brahma Memorial Stadium parking lot.

It will proceed on Cemetery Rd. and E. 2nd Street before turning right on Ridge St. passing in front of the high school and elementary school with the school’s student body aligned along the street.

Ezzell School

A Veterans Day program will be held at Ezzell School on Monday, Nov. 11 starting at 2 p.m.

Veterans attending will be honored by the students who will be singing songs and reading essays. Also, each veteran present will be introduced and presented with a handmade flag and letter from the second grade class.

After the program, veterans are invited to stay for a reception in their honor and visit with the students.
