William Arthur Bradbury

William Arthur Bradbury, 70, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024.  Surrounded by the love of his family and with his wife by his side, William found his everlasting comfort in the arms of the Blessed Mother as she took him home to be with her son, Jesus Christ.

William was born in Speaks on Oct. 3, 1954 to John Arthur and Eveline Kutach Bradbury.

On  Aug. 19, 1978, he married his cherished wife, Charlene Ann Huser  in Hallettsville.

William grew up in Speaks, where his family owned and operated The Bradbury Store.  This is where his love of ranching, hunting, fishing, traveling and helping others began. Speaks is also where he developed his treasured ability to resourcefully fix or modify anything, even if he had to ‘break it’ first.

Together, William and Charlene, built a solid and faith-filled foundation to raise their three children and spoil their four grandchildren. They were very fortunate to enjoy several pilgrimages to The Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima, Rome, and Medjugorje.  William enjoyed sharing his love of history with his family, spending many summer vacations traveling across the United States, stopping at every battlefield and National Park along the way.

William was a gentle and reserved man, known for his intelligence, kindness, and mischievous sense of humor always delivered with a sparkle in his eye.

William was employed as the BOOP Maintenance Manager at Inteplast  in Lolita.

He carpooled daily with his long-time friend, Michael Grahmann and his brother-in-law, Fred Huser.

William and  Charlene both retired in 2019 to become full-time ranchers, growing their Bradbury Ranch operations.  One of William’s final achievements in life was fulfilling his goal to build a camp house at the family ranch along the Navidad River.

He wanted to continue the long-standing legacy of gathering together in Speaks, making memories to share with future generations.  We know he will be joining us there, enjoying all of our hunting and fishing stories, reminiscing and making his presence known.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene, and their three children: Jennifer Cox, Kimberly Rainosek (Christopher), and Kevin Bradbury; four cherished grandchildren: William Travis Cox, Savana Grace Cox, Averie Elizabeth Rainosek, and Cole Ward Rainosek.

William was preceded in death by his parents,  John Arthur and  Eveline Bradbury, and his parents-in-law, Ben and Eleanor Huser.
