Nettie Rice Foley
Nettie Rice Foley was born on March 1, 1948, to WD and Lillie Prince Rice.
Nettie continued her education at Huth Memorial Nursing school where she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Nettie was an exceptional nurse, who many credit to saving their lives. Nettie’s personality was reflected in her career through her frequent jokes, pranks, and light-hearted humor.
Nettie devoted her life to Christ at an early age and lived a life proclaiming His Word. Nettie often evangelized, leading many souls to Christ to include three of her brothers and Rev. Harold Johnson. Her evangelistic outreach extended beyond teaching His Word as she often opened her home to family and friends. One of her favorite scriptures was “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me,’’ Matthew 25:40
Nettie was a standout softball player. She enjoyed participating in her brothers’ softball tournaments in which she earned the title, most valuable player. She also enjoyed fishing. One of her greatest joys was reeling in a big bass.
Nettie was united in Holy Matrimony on Aug. 31, 1968 to the love of her life, Kennon Wayne Foley. From this union they were blessed with two children, Rachel Foley Grayer and Regina Foley.
Nettie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kennon Wayne Foley; her parents, WD and Lillie Prince Rice; her brothers, Roy Gene Rice, Perry Rice, Harold Rice, Robert Rice and Andrew Rice Sr.; sisters, Bertha Rice, Maggie Miles, Lillie Mae Upton, Delrose Simmons and Mary Collins.
Nettie leaves to cherish her memories her daughters,Rachel Foley Grayer (Micheal) and Regina Foley; granddaughter, Courtney Kirby Conaway (Jernard); great-grandchildren, Jernard Jr., Joshua, Jaelyn and Maisyn Grace Conaway; brother, Elton Rice; sister, Doris Davis; beloved God-children, Roderick Axel and LaSonya Foster, and a host of family and friends.
Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 501 E. 2nd Street in Hallettsville.
Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery, 435 C.R. 135, Hallettsville, Texas 77964
