Geraldine Marie Gerlich Taylor
Geraldine Marie Gerlich Taylor, 96, of Hallettsville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024.
She was born to William and Justina Orsak Gerlich on Feb. 12,1928, in Hallettsville.
In her youth, Geraldine enjoyed riding horses and playing the trumpet.
On Nov. 16, 1946 she married Waymon Joel Taylor Sr. in Houston.
Geraldine was a hard worker all of her life. She didn’t retire until she was 82 years old, from the City of Houston. She was a caring and giving person who would help friends and family and also loved to donate to church picnics.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one step-son, Waymon J. Taylor Jr. and her sister, Gladys Hagan.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Darlene Marie Taylor of Hallettsville; brother, Gilbert Gerlich and wife, Helen of Baytown; nieces, Michelle Gerlich Funk and Doug, Laura Estes and Tim, Sharon Jacob and Larry and Susan Scott and Wesley; nephews, Jerry Gerlich and Kelly, Jim Gerlich and Kim, and Kevin Gerlich, and loving friend,Tammie Felchak.
Visitation began at noon Thursday, Nov. 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Rosary was recited at 12:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Christopher Bediako officiated. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerald Gerlich, Jimmy Gerlich, Kevin Gerlich, Craig Mayo, Timothy Estes, and Wesley Scott.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
