The weather report

November is known for occasional good rain but this year it fell far short of its normal average of 3.52 inches. Officially rainfall reached 1.41 inches during the month, falling 2.11 inches short.

Rain fell on six days with the largest amount of one inch coming on the fifth.

The month started good with 1.33 inches falling in the first seven days, but for the most part ended and November came up with no rain on the last dozen days.

For the year Hallettsville has received 38.58 inches which is below the normal average of 39.70 inches.

Rain fall records for the month include a high of 12.22 inches in 2004 and zero in 1970.

Temperatures for the month ranged from a high of 91 degrees on the third to a low of 37 degrees on the twenty-first. Daytime highs averaged 81.2 degrees (normal is 73.3), with lows averaging and dropping to 56.9 degrees (normal is 50.3).

Highs and low records include 96 degrees on Nov. 29, 1927, and 17 degrees on Nov. 30, 1911.

Thunder was heard on one day with fog showing up on five days.

DECEMBER OUTLOOK

The year’s last month should bring near normal rainfall and mostly mild temperatures with a handful of mornings seeing high thirties for lows.
