Moulton girls basketball: Kittens go perfect in winning home tournament

The Moulton Kittens won all four of their games at the Kittens Klassic Tournament last Thursday through Saturday.
Addison Simper was selected as the Tournament MVP. Reese Nieto, Audrey Swinford and Karsyn Blahuta were chosen to the All-Tournament Team.
Moulton 46, Lexington 35
Swinford hit one triple and had 20 points as Moulton won 46-35 against Lexington Thursday evening.
The Kittens led 16-11 after the first frame and Lexington scored 11 of 20 points in the second quarter for a 25-22 Kittens lead at halftime.
Moulton tightened its grip on the game with a 15-4 run in the third quarter  and the Lady Eagles outscored them 9-6 in the fourth period.
Topping Lexington scoring  was Alanna McFarlin and Maya Bell who bagged 12 points each.

Moulton 58, Luling 26
The Kittens had a 19-4 start against Luling on Friday and rolled to a 58-26 win. The Lady Eagles posted 10 of 16 points in the second frame to give Moulton a 25-14 halftime lead.
The Kittens outscored Luling 17-4 in the third period and went on an 16-8 run in the fourth frame.
Swinford led scoring for Moulton again, bagging 19 points and Addison Simper sank 11 points with a triple.
Kaleigh Medina led Luling with one tres and nine points.

Moulton 48, Sacred Heart 12
Reese Nieto netted 11 points and Simper recorded 10 points in the Kittens’ 48-12 romp of Hallettsville Sacred Heart later on Friday.
Moulton outscored the Indianettes 14-4 in the first frame and blanked Sacred Heart 8-0 in the second stanza.
Moulton outscored the Indianettes by 11-6 in third period and finished the game with a 15-2 fourth-quarter run.
Kaycee Schindler’s six points led Sacred Heart.

Moulton had a good first half in their final game of the tournament Saturday against New Braunfels Long Creek, outscoring the Lady Dragons 33-8 in a 48-22 win.

The Kittens led 20-5 after the first quarter and followed up in the second box with a 13-3 run. Moulton managed to outscore Long Creek just 5-4 in the third period and the teams netted 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Swinford had 16 points to lead the Kittens and Simper hit two triples and scored 11 points. For the Lady Dragons, Brooklyn Marquez hit a three and scored seven points.
