Lady Brahmas open district with two wins
The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas opened defense of their District 25-AAA championship with two wins, the biggest in Yoakum Friday.
Alaina Halata and Destiny Garza scored 10 points apiece to lead the Lady Brahmas to a 38-24 victory in a low-scoring affair.
The LB led 5-3 at the end of the first quarter at 15-12 at the half.
The scored was tied at 25 going into the fourth period before Halata scored 7 of her points.
Both teams shot poorly from the foul line. Hallettsville made 5 of 17 and Yoakum 5 of 16.
Devaeh Rios led Yoakum with 15 points.

The LB rolled all over Altair Rice Consolidated with a season-high 57 points here Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Three players scored in double figures.
Alaina Halata scored 9 points in the first quarter and the LB led 20-7 at period’s end.
Hallettsville led 41-12 at the intermission.
