Historic Saddle Brands Tex Tan, Hereford, and Imperial return home to Yoakum

Saddle brands Tex Tan, Hereford, and Imperial have returned to their roots in Yoakum, through an acquisition by Welhausen Legacy LLC, the parent company of Circle Y Saddles, Tucker Trail Saddles, and ReinsmanEquestrian.
This marks a significant milestone, as Tex Tan, originally founded in Yoakum in 1919 by Philip Welhausen, is once more reunited with its historical heritage. The homecoming is particularly meaningful given the deep ties between the Welhausen and Kaspar families.
Welhausen Legacy LLC operates under Kaspar Companies, a fifth-generation family-owned business located just 10 miles away in Shiner. Carl Welhausen took over Tex Tan in 1929, and is the great-grandfather of Jason Kaspar, CEO of Kaspar Companies.
This acquisition represents not just a business triumph but a heartfelt tribute to both family legacies.
“We are thrilled to bring Tex Tan back to its rightful home in Yoakum and to the Welhausen family,” said Jason Kaspar, CEO of Kaspar Companies. “This acquisition is a celebration of history, craftsmanship, and our commitment to the Yoakum community.”
Welhausen Legacy LLC is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the rich saddle making tradition in Yoakum. With Tex Tan, Hereford, and Imperial in their saddle lineup, they aim to honor and reinvigorate these brands’ fabled legacies of craftsmanship, durability, and innovation, for Western riders all over the world.
Rooted in faith and community, Welhausen Legacy remains committed to serving riders with exceptional products built to last for generations.
