KC Domino tourney set for Jan. 19
Wild Game supper scheduled for Jan. 25
The Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Council 2433 will be holding two of their annual events coming up within the next few weeks.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, the 73rd Annual Texas State Championship Domino Tournament will take place at the KC Hall in Hallettsville.
Registration for the tournament will begin 7 a.m. and straight domino partner play will start at 9 a.m.
A consolation tournament will be held immediately after for the first two settings of losers in the championship round.
In addition, a barbecue chicken dinner will be served in the hall for the players and spectators. There will also be plates-to-go for drive through customers.
Short orders and refreshments will also be served during the tournament.
Organizers of the tournament ask anyone wishing to play to join in the official Texas State Domino Championship Tournament.
“There is no better competition and fellowship and you can boast that you played in the Texas State Championship Domino tournament,” the organizers said. “You and your partner may even have the honor of winning this prestigious title.”
At this year’s tournament, Wink Bludau and Kevin Tesch will be inducted into the Texas Domino Hall of Fame.

Wild Game Supper
On Saturday, Jan. 25 the annual Wild Game Supper, Big Gun and Kawasaki Mule with 12- foot trailer drawing will take place at the KC Hall in Hallettsville.
“This is the fun night everybody waits for all year and it could also be your lucky night,” organizers of the event said. “There will be an abundance of expertly prepared foods available.
Foods on the menu include shrimp, deer, hog, dove, duck, wild rice, duck gumbo, Lavaca County sausage and wild pinto beans all marinated and prepared by head cook Robert (Bub) Henke, Too Tall Bludau, Marty Bludau and Leonard Ebner and the rest of the prestigious wild game chefs.
According to the Wild Game Supper organizers, if you need a new Kawaski Mule with a 12-foot trailer, or a variety of 101 guns, a drawing will take place during the evening.
Currently, tickets are available at Hoffer’s Drive-In Grocery, Rainosek’s True Value, and at the KC Hall.
Tickets will also be sold at the hall on the evening of the event.
Another exciting part of the supper is the opportunity to view this year’s “fantastic” results of the Big Buck contest.
Doors open on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. and charge for admission is $13 that includes the supper served from 5:30 to 11 p.m..
