Shiner baseball: Comanche nine win SH Tournament
Shiner went 1-1 against the Hallettsville teams and won the Sacred Heart Tournament in its first several games of the season.

The Comanches turned in five runs in the bottom of the fourth to add to a 1-0 lead and eventually post a 6-1 win over the Indians Feb. 24 at Green-Dickson Park.
Shiner is still working out positions, and play in the field and at the plate.
“We are definitely in the building phase. Trying to get some guys in some positions where we feel like we can be strong on defense,” Comanches head coach Daniel Boedeker said. “Pitchers are still getting some work in and we have them on pitch counts. We are also looking for being more aggressive at the plate. We took a lot of strikes early in the count.”
Shiner kicked off the bottom of the fourth with Landen Christensen reaching on an error; Boe Boehm drew a walk. Christensen went home and Boehm to second on a single by Caleb Lehnert. Boehm later stole third and scored on an error on the pickoff attempt. Lehnert later advanced home on a passed ball for a 4-0 lead.
Carson Schuette and Jake Simper were each walked; Charlie Clifford hit a fly ball to center to score Schuette; Simper scored on a hit to right field by Landyn Pohler. Cauy Herman then singled to right field but Sacred Heart ended the inning as Pohler was thrown out at home.
The Indians ended the shutout in the top of the sixth when Emerson Harvey was walked, took second on a passed ball, stole third and eventually went home on an error.
The Comanches scored early — in the bottom of the first, Simper reached on an error, stole second and scored on Clifford’s single.

Sacred Heart Tournament
Shiner 12, VSJ 1
The Comanches opened the tournament with a 12-1 win over Victoria St. Joseph on Thursday.
The Flyers took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning and did not score again.Shiner scored four runs in the third inning, one in the fourth box, put two on the board in the fifth inning and then brought home five runs in the sixth.
Shiner 7, Logos Prep 3
Shiner held off Logos Prep 7-3 later on Thursday.
The Comanches scored two runs in the second inning before lighting things up in the third with five runs plated. Logos Prep got one run in the fifth and two in the sixth frame.
Shiner 9, SH 8
The Comanches played Sacred Heart for the second time in a week and edged the Indians 9-8 to claim the tournament championship.
Shiner scored one run in the first inning and brought in four in the third box.
In the fourth, Shiner scored one run. The Comanches scored three runs in the seventh inning.
Tournament awards
Clifford and Simper were selected as Co-MVPS while Pohler and Christensen were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Hallettsville 11, Shiner 1
The Comanches opened the season Feb. 18 at Hallettsville.
The Brahmas led 11-1 in the fourth inning when the game was called due to weather conditions.
