7th Grade Comanche Band earns Sweepstakes at Concert, Sight-Reading Contest
The 7th Grade Shiner Comanche Band earned a sweepstakes at the Region 18/26 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation! The group rehearsed three concert pieces and prepared for the sight-reading portion of the evaluation.
Bands were given a rating based on their performance for both portions of the contest. Ratings that a band could earn consists of a 1 rating – Superior, 2 rating – Excellent, 3 rating – Good, 4 rating – Below Average, and a 5 rating - Poor.
The seventh grade band earned a 1-1-1 on stage for an overall Superior rating, and a 1-1-1 in Sight-Reading for an overall Superior rating.
Because the band earned a division 1 rating in both the concert and sight reading portion of the contest, they earned a Sweepstakes trophy.
“We are very proud of all of the 7th grade band members and we are pleased with their progress through our contest season,” stated band director Zach Sims. “Thank you to all of the parents, family and community members for your overwhelming support of our band program.”
