Flores represents Shiner at State Competition

On Wednesday, February 12, Jansen Flores competed for a chair in the coveted All State Band. Jansen Flores earned 10th chair Trombone at the audition.
This result is outstanding on its own, but even more so because he was competing against 3A schools. Almost all of the students who were ahead of Jansen were from a larger 3A school.
Jansen participated in the Association of Texas Small School Concert Band with students from across the state. Students rehearsed music from Wednesday night through Friday evening in San Antonio. The ATSSB Concert Band performed a concert on Saturday, February 15 at the Lila Cockrell Theater in San Antonio.
Jansen was also able to attend the annual Texas Music Educators Association music convention in San Antonio that was held in conjunction with the ATSSB All State Band.
The four day convention was held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
Students were able to meet clinicians, learn from other directors, and test out new instruments and equipment
Congratulations to Jansen on his incredible achievement of making the ATSSB All-State band! He has made the band, school, and community so proud of his efforts!
