Comanche Band competes at UIL band, twirling solo and ensemble contest
The Shiner Comanche Band competed at the UIL band and twirling Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 8.
At the solo and ensemble contest students performed either an instrumental solo, multiple band member ensemble, or a twirling solo.
A total of 19 students competed at the contest in 14 different events.
Students could earn a division 1 through five, with a division 1 is considered a “superior” rating.
The following students earned a division 1 for their solo:
Kaleb Matula - horn solo
Collin Wallace - horn solo, state qualifier
Jacob Rainosek - euphonium solo
Aiden Collins - tuba solo, state qualifier
Eve Roberts - multiple percussion solo, state qualifier
Eve Roberts - twirling solo, state qualifier
The following students earned a division 1 for their ensemble:
Mia Hernandez, Caroline King, Celeste Zamora - woodwind trio
Jansen Flores, Reagan Horn, Kade Matula - state qualifier
Aiden Collins, Jansen Flores, Colby Nichols, Natalie Rainosek, Collin Wallace - state qualifier
Lainee Bolom, Carson Brown, Kade Matula, and Eve Roberts
Two students also received a division 2 on their solo or ensemble.
A division 2 is considered an “excellent” rating at this contest.
The following students earned a division 2 for their solo:
Gavin Wallace - alto sax solo; Raleigh Moore - horn solo
