Illegal dumping increases on local country roads
Spring is upon us and with that, it seems like illegal dumping increases.
Weather is warmer and folks start discarding anything they do not want or is broken including household items, trash bags full of trash, furniture, tires, appliances and the list goes on.
Instead of discarding something properly, items are taken to a secluded area and dumped. This costs taxpayers to have the city, county or state agencies clean up the discarded items.
Penalties for illegal dumping range from a Class C misdemeanor to a state jail felony and in some cases someone with prior conviction can have their vehicle seized if it was used in the illegal dumping.
Instead of the perpetrators getting caught and having to pay restitution for clean ups and fines and possible jail time, it is best for all involved to pay a small land fill charge and do the disposal the right way.
Remember, in this day and time of technology the eye in the sky is always watching, act responsibly.
