Hallettsville Little League to start season

The excitement is palpable as the Hallettsville Little League officially opens it season Saturday.

“It will mark the beginning of another thrilling year for our young athletes,” Grahmann said. “This season we have 42 teams competing with a total of 438 players ranging in age from 5 to 15.”

The opening ceremonies will kick off at 10 a.m. on Field 2 with the parade of All-Stars, the teams and their sponsors.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church deacon Mike Tankersley will give the invocation and the National Anthem will be sung by Kendall Thompson and Vianne Villocillo.

Ray of Splashway will throw out the first pitch and games played on all four fields will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be a continuation of games and end around 6:30 p.m.

A full concession stand will be in operation throughout the day serving delicious hamburgers, hot dogs, frito pie, and many more tasty treats and cold beverages.

“We are tremendously blessed to have robust support from our businesses and community members, along with our wonderful parents and players,” Grahmann said. “The success of our Little League is built upon this dedication to volunteerism and pride in our players and our community. Our board of directors are top notch, and we are extremely fortunate to have positive, knowledgeable managers and coaches to lead our teams. I could not ask for a better group of individuals to work with.”

Grahmann said Saturday’s weather forecast calls for a high of 88 and partial sun.

“The weather should be beautiful,” Grahmann said. “Bring your family and come on out to enjoy an exciting day of softball and baseball — America’s favorite pastime.”

11:30 a.m. – Astros vs. White Sox (minor league BsB).

1 p.m. – Cubs vs. Blue Jays (T-Ball).
