March on short side of rain

This March saw below normal rainfall along with high winds. A number of days saw winds gusting to near fifty miles per hour.

Rainfall reached 1.29 inches, with rain falling on five days. The heaviest at 0.58 of an inch fell on the twenty-seventh. Normal average rain for the month is 2.46 inches.

For the year Hallettsville has received 5.33 inches which is 2.54 inches below the normal of 7.89 inches.

Small hail fell on the twenty-fourth, with no damage reported.

Records for the city shows the most rainfall came in 1926 with 9.88 inches, while the least amount was zero in 2012.

Temperatures ranged from 37 degrees on the tenth to 92 degrees on the twenty-fifth.

Average highs were 68 degrees (normal is 74.3) and lows hit 51 degrees (normal is 51.8).

Thunder was heard once with fog seen on 14 mornings.

APRIL FORECAST

National Weather Service fore casters are giving small hope for rainfall. April’s dry pattern should change slightly the last week of the month allowing better chances of rain.
