Shiner softball: LCs defeat Weimar to split season series
Shiner softball team completed the season sweep of Schulenburg and made amends for an earlier loss to Weimar with an 10-5 win in Weimar on Friday.
Shiner 10, Weimar 5
With a 5-5 game in the top of the seventh, Shiner scored five runs and then allowed none in the bottom of the inning to beat Weimar 10-5, reversing an 8-5 Weimar win in the first meeting.
Shiner broke a scoreless game by outscoring Weimar 1-0 in the fourth inning and the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Comanches 5-4 in the fifth inning.
Kloe Polasek hit a home run and had three RBI on 2-for-4 hitting; Brinley Ramirez was 2-for-4 with two runs, RBI and double. Reagan Fluitt went 2-for-4, RBI and run while Jo Caka hit 2-for-4 and scored one run.
Lauren Springfield pitched five frames with five runs on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Dyllan Chrismon pitched two innings with one hit.

The Lady Comanches scored 13 runs in the first inning and another six in the second to defeat Schulenburg 19-0 April 8 at home to complete the season sweep.
Springfield tossed a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.
Shiner got nine hits led by Hailey Radicke who was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI; Springfield hot 2-for-2 with two RBI. Ramirez, Cami Cowan, Kara Kupka and Polasek all hit a double. Caka and Kailey Boedeker scored three runs each.
In the field, Ramirez and Cowan each had one putout while Radicke had two assists.
