Patrick "Tex" Weitzel Sr.

Patrick “Tex” Weitzel Sr., 81, of Midland, went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 24, 2025, following a lengthy health battle.
Tex was born on October 13, 1943 in Shiner, to Henry C. Weitzel and Ann Marie Bannert. Tex retired from active Navy duty in 1987 after serving in Vietnam as Chief Petty Officer, and he retired from the United States Postal Service in 1993.
Tex married Donna Lynn DeSantis Weitzel in 1973. Together they had one child, Patrick Joseph Weitzel Jr. in 1976.
Survivors include his son, Patrick J. Weitzel Jr. and wife Emily (Hamilton); grandchildren, Patrick J. Weitzel III, Brock, Emily “Belle”, and Maximus “Max” Weitzel; sister, Delores Joseph; brother, Henry “Hank” Weitzel Jr.; niece, Diana Joseph; sister-in-law, Diana Faulkner and husband Joe; brother–in-law, Thomas DeSantis Jr. and wife Karen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins to carry on his memory.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lynn Weitzel; his parents, Henry and Anne Marie Weitzel; sister, Dorthy Mae Cunningham; niece, Martha A. Joseph; and brother, Robert James Weitzel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4 from 4-8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home, 4616 N Big Spring, Midland.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5 at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 4601 Neely Ave. 
Committal with Military Honors will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
