Berckenhoff set to retire from Ezzell ISD

Lisa Berckenhoff was recently recognized and congratulated on her upcoming retirement during the Region 3 School Board Conference held Wednesday, May 16, in Victoria.

She has served as superintendent of Ezzell ISD for 11 years, during which she brought facilities to Ezzell that are admired by small schools throughout the region, while making strong connections with students, staff, families and the Ezzell community.

Berckenhoff was also instrumental in bringing high school courses back to Ezzell for the first time in nearly eight decades.

“Thank you, Mrs. Berckenhoff for your dedication and all that you have done and accomplished,” her board members wrote in a Facebook posting later that same day. “While not always easy, you have shown true leadership throughout your years of service, and you will always be a Mustang!”

Not to worry, though: Ezzell ISD still has her for a little while longer, while they work on finding her replacement. Stay tuned…
