Sacred Heart reigns again: Indianettes win second straight Championship
ARLINGTON – It was expected so it was no surprise that Sacred Heart won its second straight TAPPS Division IV state championship with two easy victories in the tournament held at Allan Saxe Softball Field.
SH routed Crawley Nazarene Christian School, 16-2, in the finals Saturday in the game called after four innings because of the run rule.
“We preache d all year it was going to take 11 players to be successful throughout the tough non-district schedule,” Indianettes head coach Kevin Dworsky said. “One of the teams (St. Agnes) made it to the TAPPS Division I finals, three of the four teams in the state tournament in TAPPS Division II and countless UIL schools made a deep run in the playoffs.
“The tough schedule early in the year helped us to weather anything thrown our way.”
Avery Beach recorded her 100th strikeout of the season and the 200th of her career in the tournament and also hit her ninth home run of the season.
The Indianettes amassed 16 hits with Beach and Rylan Dworsky collecting three apiece.
SH ran wild on the bases with seven steals.
Nazarene Christian scored first in the top of the first inning.
The Indianettes replied in the bottom of the inning with Beach hitting a three-run homer and Phoenix Richter singling in a run.
The Indianettes rallied for five runs on five hits in the second inning.
Dworsky singled to score a run and Beach drove in two with a base hit. Karley Kostelnik doubled to plate a run.
The Indianettes kept pouring it on in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on five hits.
None of the Nazarene runs were earned as Beach worked four innings and gave up one hit, struck out seven and walked three.

The Indianettes defeated Bryan St. Joseph Catholic 13-3 in the semifinals Friday.
Avery Beach pitched the five innings and gave up one hit, no earned runs, walked four and struck out four.
The Indianettes collected 17 hits with Beach, Karley Kostelnik, Lanie Haas and Ainsley Grahmann getting three apiece.
SH fell behind 1-0 before scoring six runs in the second inning on run-scoring singles by Phoenix Richter, Lanie Haas, Rylan Dworsky and Beach.

The Sacred Heart Indianettes had no problem with Conroe Covenant with a 19-3 TAPPS Division IV bi-district victory here Thursday.
SH amassed 18 hits including a home run by Ella Demel.
Avery Beach gave up two earned runs, one hit, walked one and struck out one as the starting pitcher.
Demel threw the final inning and gave up a run, one hit and struck out two.
Demel drove in six runs and she and Karley Kostelnik had three hits apiece.

“We are set to be successful next year and will return 1 0 players who started at some point this season,” Dworsky said. “The only loss is Karley Kostelnik and she will be missed.”
