Boys breeze thru 3 opponents

LOCKHART – The Hallettsville Major League All Stars breezed through three opponents in winning the District 31 East zone championship Saturday.

Hallettsville defeated Shiner 19-2.

Hallettsville scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Aiden Sosa singled for two runs; Brayden Utley hit a two-run double. Brantley Steffek singled to score two runs. Brax Threadgill hit a two-run triple and Cullen Hanslik grounded out to get in a run.

Hallettsville scored nine runs on four hits in the second inning.

Sosa doubled to score a run. Utley collected a run batted in with a double and Chans Janak’s single put across three runs across.

Jake Davenport earned the win and gave up no runs and no hits in 2.1 innings.

H’ville 16, Yoakum 0

Hallettsville defeated Yoakum, 16-0 Monday, June 16 in four innings in the first game of the tournament.

A seven-run third inning did Yoakum in.

Hallettsville scored two runs in the first inning after Alex Grahmann hit a two-run homer.

Grahmann also threw a one-hitter and struck out six.

A five-run second inning featured a Kolby Kolacny triple that scored a run.

Besides Grahmann, Colt Wagner also homered.

Hallettsville had 13 hits. Brantley Steffek, Wagner, Grahmann and Kolacny had a multi-hit games with two apiece.

Cullen Hanslik doubled and Grahmann also hit a triple.

H’ville 23, Luling 0

Carter Podhajsky hit the first two home runs of his Little League career – with one being an inside-the-park round tripper – in the 23-0 victory over Luling Tuesday, June 17.

Zachary Perez was the winning pitcher and held Yoakum to one hit in the two innings he worked.

Jake Davenport pitched the final inning and struck out all three batters he faced.

Hallettsville accumulated 18 hits with 10 going for extra bases.

The locals scored 20 runs in the first inning in the beat down.

Brax Threadgill led off with a single and scored on a triple by Alex Grahmann. Colt Wagner tripled home Grahmann and scored on a triple by Aiden Sosa. The hit parade continued with Brayden Utley hitting a double to score Sosa. Podhajsky followed with a triple and scored on a base hit by Brantley Steffek. Davenport hit a triple to plate Steffek. Following five walks and a hit batsman, Wagner smacked a RBI double and Podhajsky later hit a tworun homer over the centerfield fence.

Hallettsville added three runs in the second inning with two scored on a Podhajsky home run.

Podhajsky finished with four runs batted in and went 3-for-3. Wagner was also 3-for-3 and had two runs batted in; Steffek had two hits in two trips to the plate and one run batted in; Cullen Hanslik and Perez added singles and Davenport was 2-for-2.
