Girls defeat Yoakum in finals
LOCKHART – The Hallettsville Major League (11-12) All Stars routed Yoakum via the run the rule, 13-2, in five innings to cop the District 31 East Zone title at American Legion Field Saturday evening.
Hallettsville went through the tournament undefeated.
Kenley Sevcik was the starting and winning pitcher for Hallettsville with relief help from Macyn Wimberly.
Sevcik went 3.1 innings and gave up one hit, walked five and struck out six.
Wimberly got the final two outs, freepassed one and fanned one.
Hallettsville scored five runs in the second inning, three in the third and five in the fourth.
In the second frame, the five runs were scored on five hits, a walk and an error.
After an out, Brenna Bucek, Addi Hernandez and Kaci Davis hit singles that scored runs, all with two outs. Amryn Etzler singled to right and came all the way around when the ball went through the right fielder.
Piper Hawkins was hit by the pitch to start the third inning before being forced at second. Baye Shimek, Addi Hernandez and Kacie Davis ensued with run-scoring singles with Shimek and Jones driving in runs. Brenna Bucek also drove in a run with a single.
The five-run fourth featured five hits and four errors and an inside-the-park home run by Wimberly and a sacrifice bunt by Shimek. Quinn Henneke drove in a run with a single.
Hallettsville had 13 hits with the five hitters in the batting order going a combined 8-for-13.
Etzler Bucek , Shimek, Henneke and Davis had two hits each. Sevcik and Wimberly had one hit apiece.

Kenley Sevcik and Quinn Henneke held Shiner to one hit in the three-inning game Monday, June 16.
Hallettsville collected 15 hits and scored 17 runs in the first inning.
Amryn Etzler and Brenna Bucek had three apiece . Bucek knocked in three runs and tripled. Piper Hawkins had two hits and drove in four runs, Landry Whitley, Baye Shimek, Macyn Wimberly, Sevcik and Henneke all had one hit each. Shiner committed seven errors.

Hallettsville runruled New Braunfels on Wednesday, June 18.
New Braunfels committed five errors and Hallettsville collected eight hits.
Macyn Wimberly and Kasie Davis combined to hold NB hitless. Wimberly struck out nine and Davis two.
Brenna Bucek and Wimberly had two hits apiece with Wimberly hitting a triple. Bucek plated two runs with a single.
Kenley Sevcik hit a triple and drove in two runs, and Amryn Etzler, Landry Whitley and Adley Zappe had one hit each.
Hallettsville will play in the Sectional Tournament July 1 in Karnes City.
H’ville 10, Yoakum
Hallettsville defeated Yoakum the first time around in four innings Tuesday, June 17.
Macyn Wimberly and Kenley Sevcik did the pitching for Hallettsville and held Yoakum hitless.
Wimberly struck out six and free-passed four in the three innings she threw.
Sevcik struck out two and walked one in the inning she worked.
Amryn Etzler had two hits including a triple which drove in a run. Wimberly doubled and drove in four runs. Piper Hawkins, Quinn Henneke, Baye Shimek, Addi Hernandez and Kacie Davis had hits. Hawkins, Henneke and Shimek collected a RBI each.
