Minor League boys win District East Zone title
The Hallettsville Minor League All Stars defeated Shiner, 15-5, in five innings to win the District 31 East Zone championship here Friday.
Hallettsville had only seven hits and took advantage of six walks, a hit batsman and four errors.
Drew Cliffe had three of the hits in four plate appearances and drove in three runs.\
The issue was in doubt until Hallettsville scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game because of the run rule.
The only hit in the inning was a two-run double by Cliffe. Two runners scored on wild pitches and on bases loaded walks to Jase New and Sawyer Pustejovsky.
Hallettsville scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning with Cliffe and Finn Hrncir scoring on wild pitches.
Hallettsville made it 4-0 in the second inning when Brantley Grahmann walked before scoring on a wild pitch.
Shiner scored four runs in the third inning for a 4-3 lead.
The big hit in the inning was a two-run double by Ellis Colman. Eli Patek also hit a twobagger for a RBI.
Hallettsville scored a run in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 4-all.
Grahmann, New and Pustejovsky all had singles in the canto.
Shiner had a scoreless fourth before Hallettsville scored three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 7-4 advantage.
Grahmann, New and Pustejovsky had hits in the inning.
Asa Murphy was the winning pitcher in relief of Bear Pasak.

Caston Dworsky pitched a three-inning no-hitter in the game Wednesday, June 18.
Dworsky struck out five and walked one.
Eleven (11) base on balls and just four hits told the story of this game. Dworsky, Blake Cliffe, Brantley Grahmann and Taft Johnson had hits in the game. Cliffe’s hit was a double which drove in a run.
