Local youth sports:Shiner Minor SB concludes season in district title series
The Shiner Minor Softball team finished as District 31 runner up after splitting with Canyon Lake June 23 and 24.
Shiner took a 6-2 win June 23 in the opener in Hallettsville and then battled hard but came up short in Canyon Lake on June 24, 10-0.

Holding on to a 3-2 advantage with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Shiner got three hits and scored three runs to put things away 6-2 June 23.
Canyon Lake got fielding outs on Harper Strzelczyk and Bryleigh Neskora to start things off in the frame.
Remi Radicke then doubled and took third on a passed ball.
Hattie Spann drew a walk and stole second.
Jade Boner singled in Radicke for a 4-2 lead and continued to second on the throw.
Spann and Boner each scored on a passed ball later.
In the bottom of the sixth, Canyon Lake got runners on via a hit by pitch and single before Shiner rallied for two straight outs, a strikeout by Bryleigh Neskora and fly ball to center caught by Bridgette Fishbeck to conclude the game.
Shiner took advantage of some walks to open scoring in the first inning: Chloe Pohler, Strzelczyk and Neskora were all walked. Pohler and Strzelczyk each scored on a passed ball.
Canyon Lake earned three walks in the bottom of the inning but scored just one run.
Canyon Lake tied the game in the second inning when Abby tripled and later scored on a passed ball.
Boner led off the fourth inning with a single past first base and later advanced home for what would turn out to be the game-winning run as Claire Cowan hit a sacrifice groundout to second base.
At the plate, Boner finished 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; Radicke hit 1-for-2 with a double and run. Pohler was 1-for-2 with one run; Fishbeck got one hit; Strzelczyk and Spann scored one run each; Cowan had one RBI.
Neskora earned the win at pitcher with six innings, three hits, two runs, four walks and 12 strikeouts.

Canyon Lake limited Shiner to just two hits and no runs as Canyon Lake moved on with a 10-0 win in Canyon Lake the next day (June 24).
Canyon Lake scored one run in the opening inning, outscored Shiner 2-0 in the second box and scored five in the third before adding two in the fourth inning to finish the game early.
Radicke pitched 1 2/3 innings with three runs, one hit, four walks and four strikeouts.
Neskora pitched 1/3 inning with three hits, three runs, a walk and a strikeout. Pohler closed with one inning, four hits, four runs and one strikeouts.
Pohler was 2-for-2 at the plate.
