Shiner football: Doug Brooks, Tyler Palmer see action in TAMUK 2024 season
Shiner graduates Tyler Palmer (2021) and Doug Brooks (2022) each played some in the 2024 season for the Javelina football team.
The Javelinas were 7-4 and 6-3 in conference play, 3-3 at home and 4-1 on the road.

Brooks took part in several games during the 2024 season of Texas A&M Kingsville football, his junior season.
His first action came Sept. 28 at home to Sul Ross in a 56-21 win for the Javelinas. Brooks had two solo tackles, two total tackles and one quarterback hurry.
On Oct. 5 at home to Midwestern State with TAMUK winning 40-13, he got to help on offense with one rush for one yard. On defense, he made two assists, two total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.
At Angelo State on Oct. 12, he had one quarterback hurry TAMUK’s 38-0 loss.
At home to Central Washington Oct. 19, the Javelinas came up short 31-0 with Brooks making one solo tackle and one total tackle.
At Western Oregon on Oct. 26, TAMUK rebounded with a 21-14 win.
Brooks had one solo tackle. one assist, two total tackles, one tackle for a 10-yard loss and one sack for a loss of 10 yards.
Brooks’s totals for the 2024 season was six games, one rush for one yard, had four solo tackles, three assists for seven tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss of 10 yards and one sack for 10 yards.
Tyler Palmer
Palmer, in his senior year for TAMUK, saw action in two games at defensive back, recording two total tackles.
In the win over Midwestern State, Palmer had one assist and one total tackle.
Against Western Oregon on the road, he had one solo tackle and one total tackle.
He finished his career with two total tackles in three total games played.
