Local youth sports: Shiner Stars claim Triple Crown World Series Title in Myrtle Beach

The Shiner Stars 12-year old baseball team has made headlines this summer after winning the prestigious Triple Crown World Series tournament held in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The team showcased remarkable skill and determination, finishing the tournament with a record of 7-0 and outscoring their opponents by an impressive 25 runs.
In a thrilling 2-0 championship game, pitcher Cullen Machicek delivered a standout performance, throwing a no-hitter that secured the gold medal for the Stars.  His exceptional performance on the mound earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the tournament.
The Stars are a diverse group, featuring talented young athletes from across Lavaca County and beyond, including Shiner (Ayden McCord), Moulton (Nicholas Simper), Hallettsville (Cullen Machicek and Landon Chovanetz), Ganado (Jase Peters and Easton McCain), Cuero (Alonzoe Saldaña), Gonzales (Evan Jahns and Ryder Robinson), Smithville (Stryker Owens), Sweet Home (Payten McCord), and Industrial (Kolt McFarlin).
This blend of players has fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork, which was evident throughout the tournament.
“Coaches and parents have hailed the team’s dedication and teamwork, crediting their success to hard work and strategic preparation. These boys put in countless hours of practice, and it truly paid off on the field,” said head coach Blue Hybner. “We’re incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the way they represented their communities.”
As the Stars celebrate their championship win, they are excited to announce that they will be holding extra tryouts for all ages for players interested in joining the team on Aug. 9. This is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills and become part of a winning program that emphasizes development and teamwork.
Additionally, the Stars will be participating in a league at the Shiner Starplex this fall, providing players with the chance to continue developing their skills in a local competitive environment.
With a strong foundation and a passion for the game, the Stars are focused on building a bright future for the team and their communities. There’s no telling what this talented group will achieve next.
