Miscellaneous sports: Otto makes All-Central Texas Softball Team

    On June 29, the Austin American Statesman announced its All Central Texas Softball Team for 2025. Honoring the Best of the Best, as they say.
    Addison Otto, with Otto history in Shiner, was selected as First Team Utility player.  
    A junior at Smithville High School, she is a two-position standout, batted .443 with 21 extra- base hits, including five homeruns, while scoring 45 runs and stealing 36 bases on 36 attempts.  She pitched 11 games and 48 innings with six wins and a 0.87 ERA.  She struck out 71 and walked 17. Otto led the Tigers to the District Title.  She was the District Offensive MVP of the Year, and two-time All-State Selection. Otto previously played for Team USA, and is still a qualified member.
    She is the daughter of Wayne, aka Coach Otto, and Christie Otto of Smithville, granddaughter of Barbara (Kenneth) Otto, and niece of John and Cheryl Otto Kasper of Shiner.
