Dowell conducts first practice
The Sacred Heart Indians hit the practice field for the first time Monday morning with 28 players attending the first practice.
Also known as the “Blue Wave,” the Indians will run the Gun Wing T offense this fall.
“Me and the coaches are extremely proud of the kids’ effort and attempt to learn a new system,” head coach Rodney Dowell said. “The guys up front led the way on both sides.
Dowell added that players like Timber Janak, Brody Etzler and Bowen Hawkins will lead the way up front.
Two players, sophomore Trent Sevcik and junior Dillon Goedrich are in a fight for the starting quarterback.
“Defensively, coach Masek has established a great defense led by Clayton Haas and Ty Noska” Dowell said. “Very proud of the first day of practice and look forward to an awesome year.”
The Indians will host Pettus in the first scrimmage Thursday, Aug. 14 and will visit Kenedy in the second scrimmage Thursday, Aug. 21.
Sacred Heart’s season opener is Friday, Aug. 29 in Schulenburg.
