Tribe has good scrimmage vs. Pettus
Coach Rodney Dowell’s first look at his Sacred Heart Indians was satisfactory.
The Indians outscored Pettus, 4-2, here Thursday. The score was a combined JV and varsity.
The Indians accumulated 326 yards total offense - 210 rushing, 125 passing.
Quarterback Dillon Goedrich completed 3 of 5 passes for 48 yards. Trent Sevcik was 1 of 2 for one touchdown and an interception.
Wingback Arlen Henke had 118 all-purpose yards with 81 yards rushing on 5 attempts and 37 receiving yards.
Tailback Clayton Haas rushed for 21 yards on 4 carries and caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from Sevcik.
Fullback Cameron Cull added 51 yards rushing on 7 carries and caught one pass for 15 yards.
The Indians scrimmage another South Texas team Thursday in Kenedy starting at 6 p.m.
The Lions are picked fourth in District 15, Division II and went 5-6 last season. Kenedy is in a district with Ganado, Weimar and Schulenburg.
The Lions return nine starters on both sides of the ball.
