Josefa “Josie” Bacongan Boehm

Josefa “Josie” Bacongan Boehm, 82, of Shiner, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. 
Josie was born to Donato and Dominga (Estrolla) Bacongan and was one of a large and loving family. 
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Eugene J. Boehm; daughters, Julie Ann Boehm, Jean Marie Lawrence (Kelly) and Lynnette Susan Culak; sons, James Raymond Boehm (Rhoda) and Edward Joseph Boehm (Blanca); as well as eleven cherished grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Maria Snow, Isabel Ocale, Patring Bacongan, Theodore Bacongan, Proding Bacongan, Jose Bacongan, and Julio Bacongan.
Josie was a strong, loving, and caring person, always helping or doing something for others to make them happy and always ensuring no one went hungry. 
She had a light that could not be extinguished and a child-like, lively spirit, especially in the way she loved to laugh heartily. 
Josie was an extremely strong, thoughtful woman with a huge heart who always put family first. She was forgiving, creative, and deeply devoted to those she loved.
Family was at the center of Josie’s world, and she found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 
She also had a remarkable talent for sewing and often made beautiful matching dresses and outfits for herself and her husband, Eugene, an expression of her love and creativity that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family received friends from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday, October 26 at Shiner Funeral Home, with prayers of the Holy Rosary following at 6 p.m., led by Deacon Joe Machacek. 
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, October 27 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jacob Mendoza serving as celebrant. 
Interment followed in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. 
Pallbearers for the service were Christopher Culak, Chase Culak, Michael Veit, Nathan Hannah, Edward Boehm and Aaron Boehm. 
Honorary pallbearers were James Raymond Boehm, Edward Joseph Boehm and Cameron Culak.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josie’s memory to the American Heart Association or Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
